I have read the paper today and thought i must post this on the board for all to read if you havnt seen this,
Saturday july 10th issue (THE SUN NEWSPAPER)it reads.
COUNCIL ULTIMATUM OVER GIRL,9 WHO IS 13 STONE.
A girl of 9 faces being taken in to care because she is overweight.
Samantha Collier is 12st 8ls-the same as a strapping 6ft bloke.
Her parents peter and julie claim her weight is due to a illness .And they have had a bust up with the social workers who demand that she goes on a crash diet.
Julie 40 said There has been a implied threat that if she doesnt slim down she"ll be taken in to care.
samantha who is 4ft 6in has been over weight for years.
Her parents blame steriods ,she used to take for asthma and perthes disease a degenerative hip condition,which means she can not exercise.
Social services was alerted by the school nurse.

The family agreed to visit a dietician ,but had a row with the council staff over itand now have banned them from there home in chesterfied derbyshire.
EX-nurse julie said that samantha wants to loose weight we all want her to,but taking her off us isnt the answer.
That has been implied at meetings we have been to .
We are loveing parents and are trying to get her weight down.but we are determined not to change her diet.
i admit she is a little over weight for her age but thats not unusual these days.
EX-miner peter 49 and julie have 5 other children 12 to 23 julie added
they arnt realy overweight so that shows its down to samanthas illness.
I dont feed them chips or takeaways all the time.we havent got a chip pan or a frying pan Most of our food is done in the microwave..
Samantha hardly hever eats crisps and doesnt like chocolate..
It can be hard going out at the weekends but now MC donalds serves fruit and healthy things so she has them instead of chips.
Peter said samantha goes horse riding ,does an hours exercise with a physiotherapist each week and drama classes.
DERBYSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL SOCIAL SERVICES said We can not comment on a individual cases We have a legal obligation to investigate all matters where the welfare of children is the cause of concern.
I just cant believe what i have just read,yes the social service for them to intervein if a child is starved or at the hands of neglect but because this young girl is over weight,i have posted this as it only 7 miles from were i live so i thought i would share the story.
