CHOSE OR LOSE
The following text embodies the most salient factors of the Early Interventions Project -v- the Family Interventions Pilot providing for clarity and brevity thus ensuring the message to be clearly understood.
I have mailed signed copies of this to each of my local MP's and the Prime Minister.
I emplore you to do the same and defend the rights of children to have both parents in their lives.
FACTS
Early Interventions Project
Formulation history:
Arose from protracted consultation after six years of preliminary Research. Presented at a multidisciplinary conference led by the Honourable Mrs Justice Bracewell of the High Court Family Division, who concluded "This is the way forward … it would be incomprehensible if the pilot project did not receive official sanction from the DfES and the Department for Constitutional Affairs."
Endorsed by:
Department for Constitutional Affairs Minister
The President of the Family Division
The High Court judiciary
The Family Law Bar Association
The chairman of the Solicitors Family Law Association
The Coalition for Equal Parenting
Leading child development experts.
Includes:
"Child development specialists believe that "frequent and continuous contact" promotes good child-parent relations, decent parenting and improved long-term outcomes. Children who keep both parents tend to be better adjusted, do better at school, form stable relationships and keep out of trouble. So the vexed issue of contact boils down to this: what is "frequent and continuous contact"? Most parents, judges, experts and professionals already agree. An ideal model of alternate weekends, half the holidays and midweek visits is hardly controversial."
Hijacked, binned and replaced by Margaret Hodge, Childen's Minister with:
Family Resolution Pilot
Formulation history:
Compiled by a DfES civil servants in a matter of months
Endorsements:
Margaret Hodge
DfES
Includes:
"Quality not quantum"
DEMANDS
I call for the immediate resignation of Margaret Hodge on the grounds that in presenting the Family Resolutions Project she is promoting mental child abuse by failing to ensure that the rights of children to have equal parenting time with their non-custodial parent are supported and enforced.
I demand that the Family Resolution project be dismissed and replaced with the former Early Interventions Project, which is clearly in the best interest of the children.
Too many times we have heard the phrase "In the best interest of the child" bandied about by professionals and those in power. I'd like to see proof that the phrase actually means anything to people other than just non-custodial parents.
