baby on the run

a wellington man and his young thai wife have been jailed for not disclosing the whereabouts of their newborn baby. ssd are unaware of the date of birth or even the sex. the story was something to do with father being/suspected pead and him and the wife hid the baby to avoid it being taken into care after a letter was received from ssd. ssd are now claiming that if they give the child up it will not neccesarily be taken into care.
im not in anyway supporting the man, as if he IS a pead, he should be punished and not be able to have the child, but as far as i know there were no allegations towards her. the child is suspected to be in thailand now, but nobody knows..... the parents have got 6 months inside. made me think about it, how easy it would have been to hide my baby girl, get slammed up for 6 months, then after release, go to her, move away, etc and then carry on.... that way i'd only miss 6 months of her life compared to 18 years.... it makes you think!!

the new story in the paper :
the parents are returning to court today to apply to purge their contempt and be released from prison. it apperars that mum returned to thailand to have the baby and it has remained there.
re the 'sex offence' images of young females had been found on a cd rom and emails relating to his trips to thailand. in 2002 he was charged with having sex with a 12yr old girl but was later found not guilty, but in 2003 he was branded a peadophile which was upheld by the court of appeal. the judge has said it is not their intentions to deprive the child of its mother as long as it is safe.
as soon as i hear any more after what is found in court today, i will post it.
the way i see it, if this man is a threat, he should be jailed or at least contained in a secure unit, mum can have the baby, i think there is alot more to it than what is being reported on,

UPDATE! parents both went to court and JUDGE COTTERILL who jailed them in the first instance released them both,
